And Stay Out!

….AND STAY OUT! by Kristin Stampini
BOCA RATON, Fla.
It was one of those stories that had people talking.  But this one leapt from what could have been an innocuous legal action to a worldwide ‘water cooler’ buzz.
It undeniably had some colorful characters:
A young (presumably struggling) aspiring musician who took up residence with a group of friends inside a massive waterfront home in east Boca Raton, just a stone’s throw from the Intracoastal waterway. And he did it ‘For Free’!
The bank that owns the property is one of the nation’s biggest and was on the opposing side for countless numbers of distraught homeowners since the housing bubble popped.
Not to mention the dutiful officers, the confused neighbors, and the fascinated media.
On January 23rd, Bank of America v Andre Barbosa was filed…and the firestorm of interest rained down. It took about two weeks for his eviction to be completed, but while it lasted it made great fodder for the computer dazed news crowd.
“I have seen some banks so overburdened with foreclosures that many times these cases move quite slow as I’m not sure the banks were established to be in the business of property management,” said Hilary Rose Ostrega, a Boca Raton based attorney with a primary focus in landlord/tenant law.
Now all that remains of the spectacle is a 24-hour security guard, a splash of ‘POSTED NO TRESSPASSING’ signs across the otherwise beautiful exterior, and a brand new ‘FOR SALE’ sign.
Realtor Mark Stampini said, “It’s certainly more exposure than you could pay to put out.”
The 5-bedroom, 6-bath mini-mansion went on the market February 22nd.  The asking price is a mere $2,329,900.
580 Golden Harbour Drive wasn’t the only thing to get some much desired attention from the ordeal.  Andre ‘Loki Boy’ Barbosa has a new music video on YouTube called “I Don’t Wanna Let You Go”.    One person commented under the video saying, “Loki may be able to buy the mansion in the future. This is good RAP.”
Oh, what 15 minutes of infamy can do.
